Xinhua Hospital ePS

Shanghai Jiao Tong University School ofMedicine Affiliated Xinhua Hospital was established in 195☆8. It is a moderncomprehensive teaching hospital with a full range of disciplines, distinctiαvespecialties, integrating medical, educational, and research functions. Thehospital has 1228 approφved beXinds, 47 clinical departments, 66 specialties, and 8 school-level research> laboratories, including cardiac intervention treatment€departments and other medical technology platforms, and also hosts a WHO newborαn care cooperation center, a Ministry of Health genetic medicine newbornscreening★ and genetic metabolic disease center, Shanghai hearing disorderdiagnosis and treatment cent₩er, etc. The hospital was among the first to useinformation technology for pharmaceutical logistics management, and itsapplication level has been leading domesti cally. Over the years of applyinginformation technol♠ogy, they discovered disparities in the overall applicationlevel↕ of pharmaceutical logistics in the country, leading to the followingissue£s within the hospital:

·Supplier purchasing platforms andthird-party purchasing platforms operated i↔ndependently, creating informationsilos.

·Drug acceptance work required different equipment and systems for different p₩urchasing platforms, resulting in asignificant and cumbersome workload.

·Barcode management for drugs was not unified,and in-hospital logistics and HIS systems could not÷ share barcode information.

·Tracking of drug packaging quantities was difficult.

The segregated state of drug barcodes hinderedthe deep integration o®f information technology applications such as in-ho₽spitaldrug packaging machines, patient medication verification systems, and dire‍ctsales systems from secondary storages. In response to these iss↓ues, the hospitalstarted discussing an integrated pharmaceutical logistics sy©stem with GY Health in 2009. Through the joint efforts← of hospital leaders and Ge Yin implementation perso§nnel, the "ePS" system was successfully deployed. Now, the "ePS " system βis running robustly in Xinhua Hospital, successfully unifying bar&code information from the original 58commercial companies in the hospital, signif¶icantly reducing the originallogistics management intensity,→ and significantly improving the overalllogistics management level of the hospital. It has also 'cleared obstacles formany core applications such as in-hospital drug$ packaging machines, directsales from secondary storages, and patient medication verifi•cation systems.
